Virtual Production Workshop: Exploring the Future of Filmmaking

  • Golden Hour Virtual Production Studio 6352 Fulton Street East Forest Hills, MI, 49301 United States (map)

Step inside the volume and explore the future of filmmaking. This hands-on, behind-the-scenes workshop is designed for creatives, filmmakers, producers, and agency teams who want to better understand how virtual production works and how it’s changing the way we tell stories.

The evening will include a live demonstration, real-time scene building in Unreal Engine, and a panel of creative professionals sharing their firsthand experience with the technology.

Whether you’re looking to streamline your production process, explore new creative possibilities, or understand how LED volumes and real-time rendering can support your projects, this workshop is built to inform and inspire.

What to Expect

This isn’t your typical film talk. It’s a fully immersive, live virtual production experience designed to both demonstrate the technology in action and inspire new creative possibilities. Whether you’re part of an agency, a production company, or a curious creative, here’s what the evening will include:

A Live Cinematic Demo on the LED Volume: We’ll start with a fully built, pre-lit virtual production scene using Golden Hour’s state-of-the-art LED volume. You’ll see how digital environments, camera tracking, and real-time lighting all work together to create a seamless, photorealistic shot, right in the camera.

Real-Time Scene Building in Unreal Engine: In the second half of the demo, we’ll take you behind the curtain. Our Unreal Artist will build a virtual environment live, using suggestions from the audience. You’ll watch the environment shift in real time as we change lighting, time of day, and add virtual props, showcasing just how quickly a scene can evolve using virtual production workflows.

Panel Discussion with Industry Experts: Hear from the creative team behind Golden Hour, including a Creative Director, Director of Photography, Producer, Unreal Artist, and Virtual Production Supervisor. They’ll share firsthand experiences, creative challenges, and practical insights into how virtual production can be applied to commercial, branded, and narrative work.

Snacks, Sips, and Networking: Throughout the evening, enjoy light snacks and refreshments as you explore the space, chat with other creatives, and meet the team behind Michigan’s first virtual production studio.
